Arjuna Award for Chitra while Hakam SIngh gets Dhyanchand Award
New Delhi, Aug 19: India's ace 400m runner and current Asian Champion Chitra K. Soman has been awarded with the highest sporting honor of the nation "Arjuna Award" for the year 2007-2008. Chitra who has played crucial role in the victory of India's women 4x400m relay team in the Asian Games 2006 , Asian Championship 2005 and 2007. Chitra was a part of the Indian relay team who had finished 7th in Athens 2004 Olympic Games. We are hopeful that this news will boost Chitra's confidence when she will take part in the qualifying round at Beijing Olympics 2008 on Aug 22nd. After disastrous performance by the team members, India's hope rest on the women 4x400m relay team.
